Plaza de Sant Jaume

Palau del Lloctinent
An example of late-Gothic architecture (16th century). A large Renaissance mansion which, until recently, housed the important Archive of the Crown of Aragon. then).
Palau Reial Major
Former residence of the counts and kings of Catalonia and Aragon from the 11th century. its fagade is surmounted by a tall watchtower known as the Mirador del Rei Marti, which dates from the 16th century.
Old facade of City Hall
On Carrer Ciutat you'll find a fine example of Gothic architecture featuring beautiful sculptural decorations. This was the entrance to Barcelona City Hall until the 19th century.
